Well, you get the general idea. It's lovely to see the snow coming down and making all the houses decorated with coloured lights look so much better than they did in the rain. We're especially thankful that the snow held off until after our Open House Event.
If I do say so myself, it was fabulous!
We had over 300 visitors to the shop and knitting kits were being snapped up left, right and centre. It was so exciting to see so many knitters in one place at one time! We've got to do this more often!
(Okay, I'm going to tell you something that's hush-hush right now, so please don't tell Dianne that I told you. There's some very, VERY, VERY exciting news coming up soon. I can't tell you anymore or Dianne will have my head on a platter, but I'm just too buzzed to hold it in any longer! You guys are gonna LOVE IT!) |

The cool summer weather that we had been experiencing seems to have come to an end, for another month at least. However, that doesn't mean that you won't want cool cotton garments for keeping your shoulders and arms warm during cool evenings and nights. Here's the good news -- summer yarns are going on sale from August 15, 2009. Get 20% - 30% off the regular prices on all summer yarns. Those would be cottons, cotton blends, linen yarns, bamboo blends, etc. For scarf knitters eager to get a head start on the gift-giving season, last year's wools are also on sale for 50% off the regular prices. There are still good selections of these yarns, and the early shoppers will get the best selection. On August 22, 2009 (Saturday), there will be a sidewalk sale throughout the Lindsay downtown area. Look for incredible bargains. Come and spend your vacation with us! |

Oh, what a lovely three days the Victoria Day Long Weekend was! Naz got to sit in a chair in the front window and knit an entire shawl the cro-hook way. Okay, so it was supposed to be a cardigan, but with greeting all the well-wishers and waving to all the motorists and pedestrians... well, it's a good thing that there wasn't a more pressing deadline to get it finished. The shawl was made from 1 ball of Marble Chunky and 2 balls of Tempo Chunky in a co-ordinating colour. All that's left to be done is to use up the remaining yarn as fringe. It's gorgeous!! The finished shawl is being donated to the Lilac Gardens Festival (www.LilacGardensofLindsay.com). If you haven't made plans to attend, you MUST! There will be a parade down Kent Street downtown on Saturday, May 23rd, with hay-wagon shuttle rides from downtown to the Park on Logie Street. Anyways, back to the shawl... if you're not familiar with cro-hooking, do yourself a favour and be sure to check it out! It's a very easy technique that combines both knitting and crochet. Variegated yarns were made for this!! Warning: cro-hooking may prove to be addictive and habit-forming! Please consult the yarn doctor at your LYS. |
