Kawartha Yarns ... keep the ball rolling ...  was created as a continuation and tribute to the tradition of having a yarn shop in the town of Lindsay from the mid 70's and onwards.

Kawartha Yarns was started in June 2005 in order to provide distinctive yarns for discriminating knitters.  As a knitting addict afficionada herself, the proprietor, Naz Bakshi, was torn between a need to acquire new yarns to add to her stash, and an urge to share her addiction passion with others.  When the owner of the previous LYS (Local Yarn Shop) decided to retire, Kawartha Yarns was born to take its place.

What are we about?  To have fun, of course.  To connect with other knitters and to indulge in our favourite pastime.  To share some laughs and share our stories.  To help each other and to put our heads together in order to solve stubborn problems.  We aim to provide the best customer service possible.

Says Naz, whose UFO (Un-Finished Object) basket is always about four projects behind, "Knitting should be enjoyable.  Otherwise, why would anyone want to start another project?"  Her knitting experience spans about 30 years, and paraphrasing Byron the poet, her proficiency in knitting is evidence of long periods of unemployment.

Well, it seems that Naz has finally found her niche as proprietor of your LYS.  Please feel free to give her a call or drop her a line if you're searching for something in particular, if you're puzzling over a knitting pattern, or even if you need motivation to pull out that long-lost partially-knitted project that you started in 1985.

FYI - Kawartha Yarns is a credit-card free zone.  Cash and debit are cheerfully accepted, as are personal cheques from long-time customers.

My husband and I are planning a camping trip to Galvin Bay June 5-12, 2009. I would love to stop in to visit your store. What are your hours of operation? Is there a coffee shop nearby or any place for my husband to waste an hour or so?
